TOOLS TO ENSURE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
April 19, 2007
Engaged employees know their role and are passionate about carrying it out. The more engaged employees are, the better their performance and the higher the rewards for everyone. According to Gallup International, companies with high
employee engagement had less turnover and remarkably higher percentages of customer loyalty, profitability and revenues. JoAnna Brandi, the publisher of Customer Care Coach states that, “You can make and save money by keeping employees engaged.”
The 2007 Accountants Inc. Compensation, Benefits and Workplace Trends Guide shows that 70% of the decision makers surveyed feel that their departments’ employees are fully engaged. According to Douglas Klein, President of Sirota Survey Intelligence, “management’s difficulty to engage employees stems from inattention to the personal needs of the individuals.” According to the Guide, companies are promoting a team environment, company culture and the autonomy to make key decisions to ensure they keep their employees engaged.
According to a survey recently completed by Sirota Survey Intelligence, keeping employees fully engaged in their jobs is one of the top challenges facing HR professionals, and one for which they are least prepared. However, the 2007 Guide shows that some decision makers are realizing what it takes to keep their employees engaged and are seeing positive results.
